about meden - welcome...
Welcome from Mrs Reid, Headteacher at The Meden School...
The Meden School and Technology College is a popular, oversubscribed 11 - 18 comprehensive school pleasantly situated in attractive grounds close by the River Meden and Sherwood Forest serving the community of Warsop and surrounding settlements in North Nottinghamshire.
The catchment area of the school includes the communities of Market Warsop, Church Warsop, Warsop Vale, Meden Vale and part of Nether Langwith on the Derbyshire border. Approximately 30% of our pupils come from areas in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, which are outside the school's catchment. Our Family of Schools include Birklands Primary, Church Vale Primary, Cuckney Primary, Eastlands Junior, Hetts Lane Infants, Meden Comprehensive, Netherfields Infants, Sherwood Junior.
There are approximately 1300 pupils on roll including a Post 16 group of just over 170 students. The building is constructed around five attractive courtyards and provides purpose built accommodation in specialist suites. There is an excellent hall and gymnasium and adjacent to the school is a Joint Use Sports Centre with a heated swimming pool, sports hall, squash courts and multi-gym. The school is continuously seeking to improve and modernise its learning environments. We have our own 17-seater mini bus.
We are very proud to present our prospectus to parents and children of the Warsop community and surrounding areas. Meden is a strong, popular and successful comprehensive school. We have a supportive, well-qualified staff committed to maximising the potential of every single child.
Visitors to our school comment on the politeness, friendliness and smart appearance of our pupils who enjoy a safe and secure learning environment on an attractive well cared for campus. Our Technology College status is helping us to advance in the area of ICT provision with modern, state of the art classrooms. Achievement levels at all key stages are constantly rising. Our links with our Family of Schools are flourishing and opportunities for out of hours learning are increasing. We believe in open communication with parents and an active partnership with our community.
We want all our pupils to have the confidence and self-esteem to succeed. We expect our pupils to show respect for each other, their environment and to value the qualities of honesty, kindness and integrity. Our vision is for the Meden School and Technology College to become a centre of educational excellence within a thriving and regenerated community. Please join us in helping to achieve this vision. You are most welcome to visit our school, to meet staff and see the children at work during a normal school day. An open evening is held for prospective children and parents every autumn term.
