The children’s plan, published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) in December 2007, is a 10-year strategy aimed at making England the best place in the world for children and young people to grow up in.

At the heart of the plan Every Child Matters (ECM), which calls for everyone working with children and young people to work together to deliver outcomes:

Each Local Authority (including Notts County Council) now has its own children’s and young people’s plan (CYPP), designed to deliver better working practice, strengthen local partnerships and set clear targets for improvement.

The 8 schools within the Meden Family are working together through our Extended Service to ensure that every child aged to 0 to 19 years old has the best possible chance to learn and grow.

Not only schools bur Children’s Centres, the PCT (Health Service), Youth Service, Colleges, District and County Councils, charity organisations, Connexions, voluntary groups and many more have joined together.

Shine is the name that we have given to this new way that we are working together.

This is to deliver a joined-up, coordinated service to children and their families.  This will ensure that everyone can reach their potential and ensure that Every Child Matters.

Shine will make sure that it is being effective by working to the Extended Services Core Offer.

Below are some examples of what we have already achieved and what we are planning for the future.

More importantly, it shows how YOU can be involved in ensuring that everyone can succeed in this community.
