Year 7 Homework Club

After school 2.45 p.m. – 3.15 p.m.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays

12.00 – 12.20 for leisure time (maximum 60 pupils)

12.20 – 12.40 for study, homework and QUIET activities (maximum 32 pupils)

We have a small number of laptops that may be borrowed by pupils for use at home.(Charges may apply).  Please note, these DO NOT have internet access.  Further details can be obtained from the Library Staff.

Connexions Personal Advisors are available for informal interviews.

The Library uses an Identikit Registration System for borrowing and return.  Pupils can borrow TWO items for TWO weeks.

Books can be renewed without the book being present.  Reminders will be sent out when books are overdue for 14 days.   The Library catalogue can be searched to find authors/titles/keywords using “Searchstar”.  Pupils in Years 7 and 8 have an English lesson timetabled once a fortnight in the Library.

 

The Library Resource Centre is the ideal environment for effective study, offering a wide range of resources:

Books

Approximately 11,000 covering curriculum subjects, leisure and pleasure reading, including fiction to suit all ages and abilities.

Magazines and Newspapers

Daily copies of “The Times”, “The Daily Telegraph” and “The Chad” and “First News”, as well as all types of magazines including “Empire”, sports magazines and many others.

Connexions Library

There is a Connexions Library within the main Library Resource Centre where pupils can get advice on personal problems, health issues, career decisions, drug advice, money matters and many more.

This area has up-to-date information on careers, colleges and universities which can be printed from the web link or photocopied free of charge, as well as books and other resources which can be borrowed in the usual way.  Please contact Library staff or Reception to arrange interviews with Connexions Staff.

Computers

There are currently 5 computers within the Library Resource Centre that can be used by pupils at lunchtime and during lesson times when sent by teachers for individual study.

For lunchtime use, computers must be booked on the day with the Library Office, and from 12.20 until 12.40 are for study use only.

Photocopier

Information/articles or personal items can be copied at a charge of 5p for A4 or 10p for A3.

Study Places

Sixth Form Students can use the Library for private study during lesson time when the Library is not being used by classes.
