The Meden School and Technology College prides itself on the range of out-of-school activities available to the pupils, we hope your child will take advantage of the opportunities offered.
Sport
We are a highly enthusiastic and successful sporting school, having earned considerable respect for our standards in Local and County Competitions. Our sports include: athletics, badminton, basketball, canoeing, cricket, cross-country, gymnastics, hockey, netball, rock climbing, rounder's, rugby union, soccer, squash, swimming and volleyball.
Clubs
Lunch time and after school clubs which operate regularly include: art, chess, recorder, computer, technology, environment, choir, band, jazz, juggling, stamp collecting, fabrics, textiles, French, history and maths. These are in addition to the many sporting activities. The library is open at lunch time and after school. Booster classes and Master classes in numeracy and literacy are held after school.
Music and Drama
Meden has built up a strong reputation for the quality of work in both of these areas of artistic and creative work. The School Band and Choir give major concerts each year both in and out of school. Members of the band are regularly selected to play with the County Concert Band.
Visits
These include study visits to the continent including ski trips. Field trips are organised by the Geography, History, Biology and Physical Education Departments.
Last year alone we had 76 visits go out of school. These ranged from taking small groups down to the local library to skiing in Italy to a local BMX competition to numerous theatre trips. This academic year we already have trips being organised to go to Biarritz, theatre trips and activity trips. Watch this space!
School Council
The School Council is made up of representatives from every tutorial. The group meets regularly to discuss a whole range of issues that are of concern to pupils. The council has taken an active part in the formulation of an Anti - Bullying Policy, a Rewards Policy and the school's dress code.
