Welcome to The W-Factor – a club with a difference!

The W-Factor: the collective name for a group of talented young writers who meet every Thursday lunchtime in the school library with the aim of developing confidence in writing for publication, sharing ideas & good practice.
What began as a group of six Y7 pupils, has now grown to 14 specially invited youngsters, all keen to see their work in print, either in school or to a wider public!
Since the group’s inception in February this year, work of different genre (poetry, sagas, short stories) has been submitted to a variety of competitions, with a pleasing degree of success. 6 pupils have had poetry selected for an anthology to be published nationwide later this year!
The club fosters a love of writing for its own sake & allows like-minded, able pupils to meet & share enjoyment of the art in a friendly environment. The group is run in democratic fashion, with everyone able to have their say on any aspect of the club…hence the name…The W-Factor. (Thanks, Sophie!)
As the group expands over the coming years, it is hoped we will see even greater achievement in competence, confidence & publication. The group is constantly looking for new & exciting challenges.
To celebrate the end of The W-Factor’s inaugural year, today sees the first grand W-Factor event, attended by specially invited guests. One particularly exciting feature of the presentation will be the installation of our very first Meden Laureate -Troy Davies, a writer of considerable talent, who will be the first to bear this rather special title.
