Sixth form...
Welcome from Mrs Reid, Headteacher at The Meden School...
"I have great pleasure in presenting this Sixth form prospectus for students wishing to continue their education beyond the age of 16. At Meden our sixth form numbers are growing as our courses widen and the opportunities for further study increases. Indeed it is fast becoming the norm to consider a continuation of study from 14 to 19 as courses you have started in Year 10 can progress and expand into very useful avenues of study in Years 12 and 13.
I am pleased to see more of our Year 11 students wishing to stay on at The Meden. I have always recommended that this is a wise move if you are happy with the school, with the courses on offer and with the teachers of your chosen subjects. You have much to contribute to our school in terms of leadership and responsibility in a known and secure environment. You can help to provide an important role model to our younger pupils and take part in whole school community activities.
This is not to say that we do not welcome students from other schools and colleges. We pride ourselves in having an open sixth form and any student is most welcome to apply for a place. Our local consortium arrangements with neighbouring schools and West Nottinghamshire College now allows for a wide variation of courses to be taken. You may be able to take one subject, for example, at another school but still use Meden school as your main base.
The Meden School is a forward looking Technolgy College with all this entails in terms of ICT study areas and state of the art learning environments. Please use the menu on the left or the 'About Meden' pop-up menu above to find out what is involved in being a sixth form student and the courses on offer at Meden".
