More Swimming Success for Elliott Clogg

Elliot competed at The British Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield from 18-23 April. This is the pinnacle event within Great Britain and this year was used as trials for the World Championships in Budapest, the Junior World Championships in Indianapolis, the Junior European Championships in Israel and the Youth Commonwealth Games in the Bahamas.

Elliot entered 6 events the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke, 50, 100 and 200 freestyle. To stand any chance of selection Elliot had to finish in the top two in a Junior Final in any Olympic events.

Elliot, had a fantastic week making Junior Finals in all the events he swam and his results are as follows:

50 back - 2nd
100 back - 1st
100 free - 1st - New English Record
50 free - 2nd
200 free - 1st
200 back - withdrew to focus on 200 free (advised to do so by British Swimming)

We heard on Wednesday that Elliot was successful in gaining selection to represent Great Britain at the World Junior Championships in the USA in August.

I think Elliot will now have his sights set on trying to gain selection for Team England for next year's Commonwealth Games in Australia.

This is the third consecutive year Elliot has been selected to represent Great Britain

Great news Elliott!
