KS4
The ability to plan, prepare and present food is an essential skill within the hospitality and catering industry. The EDUQAS Vocational Award in Hospitality and Catering equips learners with theoretical knowledge about the industry as well as enabling them to develop practical skills in planning, preparing and cooking a variety of dishes.
Below is information about our KS4 curriculum. Each drop down box contains the topics we cover. For more detail on the knowledge we teach, please click on each medium term plan. Our curriculum map shows the learning journey that our students embark upon.
In Year 10, students study the following topics:
Unit 1:
- Hospitality and Catering provisions
- How Hospitality and Catering provisions operate
- Health and Safety within the industry
- Food safety within Hospitality and Catering
In Year 11, students study the following topics:
Unit 2- ​Hospitality and Catering in Action​ (60% of overall qualification)
- The importance of nutrition
- Menu planning
- The skills and techniques of preparation, cooking and presentation of dishes
- Evaluating cooking skills
